June 5, 2003 - The 3 Peaks Challenge involves scaling the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. It does not just involve the walking though, the time limit also includes the drives between the mountains which makes it a little tight!
In all, the challenge involves covering:
38.5km (24 miles) horizontal walking
3020 m (9910 feet) vertical climb
700km (435 miles) driving
The Challenge starts at the bottom of Ben Nevis and finishes at the top of Snowdon.
