Nexus “in the field” – Spring Projects Round-up

Nexus celebrates 10 years of innovation this year and continues its expansion to become the leading ICT provider in the south west.

The company has had an amazing start to 2008, winning high profile new contracts, developing exciting new websites for customers and announcing the opening of a second ICT Training Suite.

Over the last three months Nexus have won contracts with some well known companies across the region including Gill Akaster Solicitors, Melaway Glass Assemblies, Cornish Mutual Assurance Company, Fitzgerald Lighting, Screwfix and Garden Style Direct.

Nexus Open Systems have successfully completed a number of innovative ICT projects for new clients over the last few months. Ranging from complex hardware infrastructure upgrades, virtualisation and Microsoft server deployment projects.

This year is widely viewed by analysts as an ideal year to "refresh" your ICT hardware and software systems utilising new products from Microsoft, including Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Nexus are proud of their status as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and the technical team have helped several organisations including Colin Mear Engineering, Riviera Housing Trust and Ford Simey LLP prepare for the latest technology.

The optimisation of computing infrastructure to reduce energy costs and simplify management continues to be a key topic for our customers. Many organisations have deployed VMware virtualisation software to consolidate servers, improve the management of computing resources and provide business continuity solutions. For example Connexions Cornwall and Devon Ltd worked with Nexus to deploy a virtual computing environment using VMware software and they are now reaping the benefits of a simplified business computing platform.

Optimising core computing infrastructure is an important element of our Local Government customers ICT strategies. Teignbridge District Council have worked closely with Nexus engineers to design and plan a network infrastructure upgrade and wireless network connectivity project.
