Nexus in the field - Latest projects round up

In the Field

Nexus is one of the South West's leading providers of computer networks, telephone systems, technical services and Web based software development. Working closely with Microsoft as a Gold Certified Partner means that the company has the skills and proven track record to help you harness effective IT and communications.

The Nexus Open Software development team has had a busy start to the New Year with a mixture of Website development projects, bespoke software development and some exciting sales of our software products.

We have won contracts to design or re-develop three new customer Websites. The development team has strong design skills resulting in innovative Websites that utilise the latest content management technologies. Bale Group for example gave us a design brief to update and redesign their Website. Please visit the new site and see what you think.

Other Websites we are currently developing include a redeveloped Website for Recresco (a major UK glass recycling company), and Kreston International (one of the largest worldwide networks of Accounting firms).

We have won several large bespoke software development contracts since the beginning of the year. Bishops Move Group has awarded Nexus a major software development contract to design a new Web based Operations Management System based on Microsoft SQL/IIS technologies. This contract will take 9-12 months and includes the deployment of MiCore Portal Engine and MiSupport Helpdesk for all staff across 30 + offices. Other software development contracts won include a project to re-develop an existing MS Access application to a Web based platform for West Country Milk Consortium and we have created a business card generator tool for Telperion based in North Devon.

We are pleased to announce that SPAR.net, Nexus' Enterprise Performance Management application has recently been supplied to Mendip District Council and Caradon District Council, who will be using the software for monitoring and managing service, performance and risk.

The MiCore Portal Engine success story continues as the software competes strongly in the Web Portal and Intranet/Extranet market. Recent sales include a MiCore powered Intranet and Extranet for Kreston International who will be deploying MiCore to 6000 accountants worldwide. Kreston has also purchased MiCRM Marketing Software to manage international events and activities.

Following a well earned rest over the Christmas period, the New Year started with a major infrastructure migration for Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), a leading UK law firm who are one of Nexus' largest long standing clients. The project involved the migration of 75 servers and 1200 users combined with the implementation of a new Document Management System. Nexus not only played a major role in the planning of the project but also provided resources to support Berwin's IT team through the weekend long migration. In her letter of thanks, Janet Day, BLP's IT Director said that she could not have done it without Nexus' support.

Nexus has also been involved in a number of large projects in the South West.

Exeter Friendly Society (EFS) is a significant new client of Nexus. The IT systems required to support their Private Medical Insurance business run on over 25 servers. Being dissatisfied with their existing server platform supplier EFS embarked on a server evaluation project. In conjunction with HP, Nexus provided evaluation platforms and support throughout the evaluation and were successful in winning their business.

EFS also introduced Nexus to the Eizo monitor range. These top quality monitors are not only excellent for displaying moving images and photographs but also provide an excellent platform for screen intense business applications. Nexus is now in the process of becoming the Eizo Centre of Excellence in the South West.

Nexus has always had a strong presence in the charity sector. Towards the end of last year we began to build a relationship with Enham, an Andover based charity that supports people with disabilities. In the early part of 2006 we implemented a system upgrade for Enham's commercial arm, route2mobility (r2m). The system utilises secure VPN technology to enable r2m to support its remote workers and network of agents.

In addition to these systems integration projects Nexus also implemented ICT based business solutions for Eltek Semiconductors, Gooch and Housego, Home Farm Hotel, LLExeter and the implementation of a secure firewall and VPN solution for the luxury bed manufacturer Vi-Spring to support its European office in Brussels.
