Nexus awarded TMB Approved Centre status
Nexus Open Systems of Exeter is pleased to announce that it has become the only IT company in the South West to be awarded Technology Means Business (TMB) Accredited Centre status by the IFF and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Technology Means Business is the industry standard accreditation for providers of integrated business and information and communications technology (ICT) advice to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). This accreditation confirms Nexus advisors have the right approach and the proven ability to offer a credible service.
The ultimate aim of the TMB standard is to improve the competitiveness of UK SMEs through the provision of effective business-related ICT advice. Tim Little SME Programme Director said "Whenever SMEs consider seeking ICT advice, their first thought is to seek a TMB approved adviser".

Technology Means Business is a national network of accredited business advisers providing advice on how to make the most of information and communication technology to meet the needs of small businesses. Darren Scully Commercial Director at Nexus adds “We have invested a lot of time and effort to ensure we successfully completed the TMB accreditation. Our advisors have passed knowledge tests and the company’s project management systems and processes have been successfully audited.
Small businesses need to feel confident that the advice they are given is realistic, up to the minute and in line with their needs. Technology Means Business is supported by the DTI through UK Online for Business to help clear a way through the maze.
The latest research suggests there are still a large number of companies that only use ICT for less sophisticated purposes with consequently, only a minimal impact on their business performance. The research also shows that 82% of companies identified a difficulty in finding either expert of impartial advice and that this was hindering their ability to reap the business benefit of their existing IT systems.
Darren Scully comments "We hope that the Technology Means Business standard helps reduce the complexity and risk that SMEs face when selecting an appropriate IT provider. The accreditation is a valuable differentiator for companies like Nexus who invest in their technical staff. Each Nexus adviser must meet stringent criteria and demonstrate a level of competence that combines technical knowledge with business expertise".
