Silvalea Ltd is an established leader in the development of manual handling products. Silvalea's core business is the manufacture of replacement slings which are used during the transfer of clients using hoists. Silvalea supplies products to healthcare service providers, hospitals, nursing homes and all organisations and individuals who are seeking a solution to their manual handling requirements.

Silvalea's Head Office is based at Newton Abbot in the South West of England. In September 2008 Silvalea awarded a contract to Nexus Open Systems for the supply, design, and installation of a new network infrastructure, to provide a more stable foundation for their ICT systems.

Nexus recommended the installation of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2003. SBS is designed for businesses with up to 75 users. It offers a robust business platform to manage the organisations data, email, Internet access, remote access, wireless device access, printing and system backup and restore - all in one cost-effective, integrated solution.

Nexus is an accredited Microsoft Small Business Specialist. This was an added assurance for Silvalea, that Nexus had the required qualifications and a proven competency in planning and deploying Microsoft technology solutions for small businesses.

The installation was project-managed by Nexus to ensure that there was minimal disruption to the organisation, even though the majority of the work was to be carried out during business hours. This strategy offered the most cost effective approach for Silvalea.

The project was delivered successfully and on time. It included the installation of Windows Small Business Server 2003, relocation of the organisations core business application ‘STEPS' to the SBS server, plus the deployment of Sophos Anti-Virus Control Centre, Sophos PureMessage and  Symantec Backup Exec to manage data security and integrity across the new network.

IT Manager, Martin Rouse, was pleased with the outcome of the project and congratulated Nexus on the installation of the business solution.
