Overview
Bridgwater College wanted to work with a local company with a proven track record to assist their IT team to deploy Microsoft Lync Server 2010 for external users and remote sites.
Solution
Bridgwater College of Further Education is located in the heart of Somerset, with main centres in Bridgwater and Cannington. It also has outreach centres in Bridgwater (Angel Place), Lufton near Yeovil and Paignton Zoo.
The College has an excellent reputation both regionally and nationally as a highly successful provider of education and training. Their examination and course results consistently place the college amongst the best of all education andtraining providers in the South West.
When the college contacted Nexus, their IT team had already successfully completed the installation of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 for internal use. However, the College wanted to work with a local IT partner with a proven track record to assist the team to deploy Microsoft Lync for external users and remote sites. The following Microsoft Lync features were deployed by the college for the teaching personnel:
- Enterprise telephony and voice communications
- Audio and visual conferencing
- Instant messaging
- Online collaboration
- White boarding and application sharing
Nexus recommended that the College purchase Retained Technical Services (RTS), this offered the IT team flexible access to the expert skills and in-depth knowledge of the Nexus Technical Team.
During August of 2011, a Nexus Senior Systems Engineer with extensive experience of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 provided high-level consultancy that incorporated advice and support for routing and edge server configuration with Microsoft Threat Management Gateway (TMG), SSL certificate provisioning and other best-practice deployment techniques.
